Giant Bananna Spider

This photo of a female, Giant Bananna Spider was taken in the forests of Jekyll Island Georgia during the fall season. The woods are filled with their huge webs and hikers and bikers have to be careful not to get entangled in them as they are stretched accross almost every hiking path. They are mildly poisenous, grow to almost the width of your hand and are closely related to Golde Garden Spiders, Orb Weavers.

Robber Fly kills Yellow Jacket

One day, a Robber Fly, which is a fly that catches and eats other insects, landed in front of me on a car door panel with a struggling Yellow Jacket Wasp in it's grip. It quickly dispatched the Yellow Jacket and began to devour it, at which time I grabbed my camera and snapped some closeups.
